Bluegrass Generals 2024
Another amazing year of Bluegrass Generals shows is in the books! This was our 9th annual installment, featuring an amazing lineup of our badass friends, who also happen to be some of the baddest players/singers out there. This gig has evolved into one of the highlights of the musical year. It’s a ton of work (we learned almost 50 songs, perforemd over 2 nights, 4 sets with no repeats), but it always comes together and makes for some very fun, in-the-moment shows where you never know what’s going to happen next. Something really cool happens when you spend hours rehearsing, hashing it out, learning each others music, and then ultimately performing it all that same weekend. It’s a unique bonding experience like no other. And it was a joy to share it all with this year’s amazing band. We had Jarrod Walker on mandolin and vocals, from Billy Strings’ band, absolutely blowing us away all weekend with his amazing chops. Emma Rose played bass and sang, and she absolutely killed it. Formerly of Big Richard, you can see Emma performing with her new solo project, Sound of Honey. On guitar and vocals we had the amazing Cris Jacobs, our sould brother from Baltimore who’s been making incredible music from years. And joining us on vocals and guitar from Clay St Unit, was my man Sam Walker, who I think you will all be hearing about soon. Big props to my fellow general, Mr. Andy Hall, who is irreplaceable in the Generals equation. For more on how it all goes down, check out episode 43 of my podcast, Inside the Musician’s Brain.
